Good afternoon, everyone! I meant to do this before Christmas, but well, Christmas happens. I hope you can forgive me for being a little late, but I had such a good time, I wanted to share with you. Here goes:
On December ninth, we were excited to be part of the Fairmount neighborhood's annual Festivus celebration and toy drive. The whole neighborhood gets their jolly on and does a drive by home tour and collects toys for One Safe Place, a local women's shelter. Chris and I are honored to be Santa and Mrs. Claus, respectively. It's so much fun to see my normally Grinchy husband hold babies and play peek-a-boo with toddlers. It reminds me why I married him. Under his usual crunchy, Scrooge-like exterior is a positively gooey heart. He also enjoys buys toys for and decorating his cars. This year, the Healy came out to play, pulled by a herd of reindeer-mingos. His new toy for the year was a fog machine that looked magical, but also looked like the car was smoking, possibly on fire. It's a British car, so the assumption is not too far off. Lots of fun was had by all and lots of kiddoes will have a happier Christmas because of the generous folks of Fort Worth. When I moved here almost thirty years ago, it was only going to be temporary, but every year I love it a more, thanks to the spirit of the people who call this city home.
Thank you to everyone in my adopted hometown!
Time to plan the day with beignets and lattes at PJ's. So much magic and poetry in one caption and pic!
Now it's time to get started!
Different vendors in the neighborhood sponsor decorated trees for the raffle. Part of our job is to keep an eye on the trees and tell guests how the raffle works. We always have a great time visiting with the merchants as they set up their works of art.
What's Festivus without the pole for grievances? It was so windy, we weren't able to keep it up long, but it was still amazing!
I didn't get a lot of pictures of the actual event because the uncles picked up my photographer for an evening of fun and I was doing the things, but here are some fun ones I managed to get.
Here's my sweet friend who's going to make me an Auntie again!
Is it Christmas Magic or English Engineering making that smoke? We'll never tell!
